Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Don’t Play Nice
June 6, 2008 – 9:29 amI converted a Microsoft Word 2007 file to a PDF by clicking on the Acrobat tab and then “Create PDF”. For whatever reason, on my computer I have to go through this process twice because the first time it doesn’t actually create the file. After the second time I was greeted with a lovely file that had completely inaccurate footer information. The Word document had 13 pages and my footer correctly displayed 1 of 13, 2 of 13, 3 of 13, etc. The PDF that was created had 1 of 1, 2 of 2, 3 of 3, 4 of 4, 5 of 5, etc. Not cool.
The Workaround:
Simply print to the Adobe PDF printer through the “File/Print” menu instead of going to “Acrobat/Create PDF” and it works fine.

I’ve been directing users to use File/Print for as long as I can remember. I’ve had more than one headache solved by generating a pdf that route rather than trying to use Adobe’s stupid plugins. I feel your pain.
