Windows Vista DVD Burning Error - Small

Does anyone else see a problem with this?!

“Files Ready to Be Written to the Disc (1)”
“There are no files to burn.”

What the heck?!

AHHHHHHH!

The Solution

DeepBurner Free 1.8
It’s only 2.8MB and works like a champ! Screw you, Vista!

  3. I ran into the same issue. Did some research. There seems to be a special case for the situation when you try to burn a disk with only one root folder, or file.

By default, windows vista places a file ‘desktop.ini’ in the ‘to be burned’ folder. This bugged me, so I deleted it, and that left only 1 folder (the folder I wanted to burn). It seems that Vista does a count, and if it sees only 1 object, it assumes that object is the bogus ‘desktop.ini’ file. I added a harmless ‘test’ file and suddenly, I was able to burn the disk!

I later read that the ‘desktop.ini’ file does NOT get burned to the disk, so you don’t need to delete it, and thus, you won’t run into this issue.

HOWEVER - even after figuring all this out, I still could not play the disk I created and I resorted to “ImgBurn”, a great freeware burning package. I saw your tip to use ‘Deepburner’, but ImgBurn seemed to have more positive press (google ImgBurn download”). I’ll try to compare them both.

So I’m abandoning Vista’s crappy attempt at burning software, but wanted to post this response for others.
